Finance Manager – The Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre

Functie omschrijving

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and transparency across our organization and project portfolio.

You will work closely with the Director of Operations and colleagues across programmes and support functions. While you will contribute to financial planning and organizational direction, you will also remain actively involved in day-to-day financial operations.

You will lead a team of three experienced Finance professionals, taking full responsibility for the team’s direction, development, and performance while ensuring Finance effectively supports the wider organization.

The team currently reports to the Operations Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS

Financial Management & reporting

Responsible for organizational budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Prepare and deliver periodic financial reports and analyses
Contribute to financial reporting to senior management and the Board

Compliance & controls

Ensure compliance with financial policies, donor requirements, and regulations
Responsible for audit processes and liaise with external auditors
Monitor financial risks and contribute to strengthening internal controls
Oversee VAT compliance, including international aspects

Projects and donor finance

Responsible for financial management of donor-funded projects
Assist programme teams with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Ensure accurate financial tracking and compliance with donor requirements
Act as a point of contact for financial queries from partners and stakeholders

Financial Operations

Oversee or support daily financial operations (payments, reconciliations, cash flow monitoring)
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial administration
Contribute to improving financial systems and processes

Business Partnering

Translate financial information into clear insights for non-financial colleagues
Support teams in understanding budgets and financial performance
Contribute to a culture of financial awareness across the organization

Functie eisen

Experience

Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management
Experience in an international and/or project-based environmentExperience with donor-funded projects is a strong advantage
Solid understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit processes
Experience contributing to budgeting and financial reporting

Technical skills

Degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or similar· Professional qualifications(e.g. ACCA, RA, CPA) are a plus
Experience with accounting systems (Exact Online is a plus)
Strong Excel skills

Good communication skills, including explaining financial information clearly

Language

Excellent command of English (Dutch is a plus)
